Before the event
Read the brief, allowed tools, eligibility, and submission requirements. Choose a specific user and problem. Confirm that your tools work, you can access the approved data, and your team understands any language requirements.
At the start
Write down the input, the AI's task, and the useful output. Divide responsibilities for the build, interface, evaluation, and presentation. Decide early what can be removed if time runs short.
During the build
Try missing information, unfamiliar wording, and incorrect model output. Show source information where it helps, and define how the user can review or recover from an uncertain result.
For the demo
Demonstrate the core workflow with representative data. Explain what works, what is still incomplete, and how you would evaluate the next version. Keep a recorded demo or screenshots if the rules permit.
After the event, talk to potential users and review the assumptions the prototype exposed. A promising demo still needs evaluation, access controls, reliable integrations, and a plan for operating costs before wider use.
